On August 24, EXO joined the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hazel Trembath Elementary replacement school for School District 43 in Port Coquitlam. It was an honor to be a part of this event and witness students, families, school board members, district representatives, and local officials come together to mark this important milestone. Construction is now officially underway.
EXO Construction Group is proud to be a key part of this project, having provided design-assist services during the first phase and now supplying and installing the EXO 2.0 Panelized Building System. Working alongside Yellowridge Construction, EXO is a partner in delivering the new school through a hybrid construction approach centered on the EXO 2.0 Panelized Building System. The system provides full wall and roof structures for the classroom wings, while the gymnasium and Neighbourhood Learning Centre (NLC) combine EXO 2.0 wall panels with traditional flat-roof construction.
The new 240-seat school will include two kindergarten classrooms, eight elementary classrooms, the Neighbourhood Learning Centre and gymnasium. Opening is expected for 2027, bringing the Hazel Trembath school community back to a permanent home.
For EXO, it has been exciting to see the project move from the design phase into construction. We worked closely with KMBR Architects Planners, SD43, and the full team of consultants to seamlessly integrate the EXO Building System into the project design. This collaborative approach focused on the coordination of the panelized building system components which sets the path for efficient pre-fabricated manufacturing and on-site construction.
We look forward to contributing to construction completion and seeing students, staff and families settle into a brand-new school on their familiar school grounds.
