Centennial Secondary NLC Fit-Out

The Neighbourhood Learning Centre (NLC) fit-out at Centennial Secondary School, delivered for School District 43 (Coquitlam), involved a comprehensive transformation of the existing space into a modern, multi-functional hub for education and community engagement. The project featured a balanced scope of demolition, new construction, and interior upgrades tailored to meet contemporary learning environment standards.

The school district’s objective was to create a welcoming, functional space with visually appealing interiors, and open areas that foster both creativity and connection. The project was carried out with this vision in mind, ensuring every element, from lighting to finishes contributed to a space that could serve both students and the wider community.

Work began with selective demolition to clear outdated elements and make way for the new layout. Key construction elements included extensive millwork installations for functional and visually appealing interiors, and resilient flooring made  for high-traffic educational use.

Mechanical and electrical systems were modernized to increase operational efficiency and comfort, while integrated fire protection upgrades ensured enhanced safety for students Glazing enhancements introduced increased natural daylight into the space, creating a more open and inviting environment.

Additional masonry work contributed to the facility’s structural strength and added visual depth, aligning  the interior with the architectural character of the larger school campus.

This project showcases EXO Construction Group’s capacity to deliver tailored educational facility upgrades on active school campuses. Completed in collaboration with School District 43, the Centennial NLC fit-out reflects a shared commitment to careful scheduling and coordination minimized disruptions, demonstrating the adaptability required to deliver high-quality results in a live school environment.
