Scott Creek Middle School – 2 Storey Modular Addition
This two-storey modular project involved a significant expansion to Scott Creek Middle School, adding 10 new classrooms to an operational facility. This 13,000-square-foot addition also includes two media rooms, four washrooms, a mechanical room, an electrical room, two custodial rooms, two prep/resource rooms, and a staircase.
The school district’s requirement focused on delivering a durable and efficient facility, with a design that seamlessly complements the architecture and aesthetic of the existing school building. Constructed on a concrete foundation with a structural steel frame and EXO’s Panelized Modular Building System™ insulated panels, the building offers long-term durability and low operational impact.
The addition incorporates the Innovior/Falkbuilt modular wall system also incorporating heating/cooling systems, ensuring a modern, flexible, and energy-efficient design. Clerestory windows provide additional natural daylight, while modular interiors create a contemporary, flexible learning environment.
A key consideration throughout construction was minimizing disruption to school operations. This was achieved through strategic scheduling during off-peak hours, strict adherence to safety protocols, and ongoing coordination with school administration.
The highlight of this project is the two-storey modular addition, showcasing EXO’s ability to deliver complex, high-performance educational spaces. The design also features a covered second-floor breezeway connecting the new school addition to the existing school building.
Delivered in collaboration with DA Architects + Planners, this addition demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing modern, cost-effective, rapid development of educational environments in growing communities.
